Part 04

(Karan receives the message. He reads it. He stands and walks towards Rohith.)

Karan: Read this.

(Rohith reads it and smiles.)

Rohith: Are you happy now?

(Karan doesn’t say anything. He just smiles. Rohith starts to study. Karan sends another message. He types, “Friends Forever! Oh, I forgot to ask. In which faculty and which year are you studying? I’m doing Quantity surveying. And I’m in first year.)

[Sneha types, “Oh my god! That is cool. I’m also doing Quantity surveying and I’m also a first year student.”]

[Karan types, “Are you serious? Then both of us in the same class.”]

Next day morning, in the classroom,

(Karan and Rohith come to the class. Students are in the class. Mahen is scolding someone lonely. Karan shows it to Rohith. They walk near him silently. They hear what he says.)

Mahen: Can a man eat those foods? They are good for animals.

Rohith: Why Mahen, what is the problem?

(Mahen looks at them.)

Mahen: When did you come?

Karan: That is not important. Tell, what is the problem?

Mahen: My boarding house is so unpleasant to me.

Rohith: Why?

Mahen: I can’t eat those foods. Not only me but also no man eat them.

(Karan and Rohith laugh. Mahen becomes angry.)

Mahen: You all laugh! It is so funny, isn’t it?

Karan: Ok, ok, we don’t laugh. Now tell us, what can we do?

Mahen: You have nothing to do. I’ll find another boarding house.

Karan: Then you can come to our place.

Mahen: No, No, living in road is better than living with you.

Rohith: This is not a joke. There is enough space in our room for another one.

Mahen: I’ll endure little more.

Rohith: Hey Karan, whom do you think Sneha is?

(Rohith sits while talking.)

Karan: I don’t know.

(He looks at students.)

Mahen: Who?

Rohith: A girl calls Sneha.

Mahen: I don’t understand anything.

Rohith: Karan found a friend though the phone. But we still haven’t seen her.

Mahen: Oh, I see!

(Karan and friends are in the last row. They are always in the last row. Sneha and Shalinee are in the first row. They are talking.)

Sneha: That boy did SMS me again.

Shalinee: What did he say this time?

Sneha: He asked “Will you be my friend?”

Shalinee: You didn’t reply him, did you?

Sneha: I did.

Shalinee: What did you say?

Sneha: I said ok.

Shalinee: What? (She yells. Everyone in the class look at her.)

Sneha: Oh my god, can’t you control your voice?

Shalinee: It is ok. Tell me why did you do like that?

Sneha: I felt sorry about him.

Shalinee: You are a No. 1 idiot. At last you got cheated.

Sneha: I just made a friendship. That is it. Why do you always think in negative side?

(Shalinee doesn’t say anything. She is not in a happy mood.)

Sneha: His name is Karan. Which we thought is correct. Some one has heard our conversation near that bench. He is one of Karan’s friends.

(Shalinee doesn’t say anything. Professor Rai comes to the class. He teaches the lesson.)

Next scene, in Karan’s boarding house,

(Karan and Rohith come to the boarding house.)

Karan: Today’s lesson is good.

Rohith: Hmm.

(They talk while changing.)

Karan: I feel sorry about Mahen. He can’t bear difficulties.

Rohith: Of course, he doesn’t know how to face the society.

Karan: He is the only child in his family. His parents may have given him all the facilities. That is why he is like that.

Rohith: You are correct.

(They are silent for a while.)

Rohith: Karan, may I ask you something?

Karan: Ask.

Rohith: You know that Sneha is in the same class. Don’t you want to meet her?

Karan: I don’t have a special desire. We are friends now. It doesn’t matter whether we meet each other or not.

Rohith: You are a strange boy, really.

(Karan smiles.)

Rohith: I’m going to have a wash.

(Rohith leaves the room. Karan starts to read a newspaper.)

Next scene,

(Rohith comes to the room after having a bath. Karan is sleeping. Rohith becomes angry. He takes a pillow and beats Karan.)

Karan: What the hell are you doing? Stop it.

Rohith: Get up then.

Karan: Leave me alone.

Rohith: No, I will not. Get up.

Karan: Why did I come here to live with you?

(Karan sits on the bed.)

Rohith: You told that you will have a bath today. Go and take a bath.

Karan: Not today. I’m lazy today.

Rohith: How can you live like this? You may not be a man.

(Rohith leaves. Karan stands and walks to the table. He takes the phone.)

Karan: Let’s send a message.

[Karan types, “How are you? Did you come university today? I tried to find you among the students. But I have no idea.”]

[Sneha is studying. She receives the message. She read it and replies it. Now she is interesting a little about it. She types, “I’m fine. I came today. You know what? I also tried to find you. But I also couldn’t. Let’s do something, let’s meet tomorrow. We are in the same class. So it is not necessary to keep the friendship through the phone. What do you think?”]

[Karan types, “You are correct. Let’s meet tomorrow. But when and where?”]

[Sneha types, “After the class, under the mango tree. Can you?”]

[Karan types, “Ok then, I’ll be there.”]

[Sneha types, “I hope to meet you there. Study well. Bye!”]

[Karan types, “You also study well. Good bye.”]

Part 03

Next day, in the university,

(Shalinee and Sneha are talking while walking.)

Sneha: Oh! I forgot to tell you. A boy did SMS me yesterday.

Shalinee: What did he say?

Sneha: Don’t ask. What a bad boy he is?

Shalinee: So tell me please what he said.

Sneha: He said that he loves me.

Shalinee: What? (Shalinee yells.)

(Everybody around there look at them because of Shalinee’s yelling. Sneha and Shalinee become embarrassed. They walk fast and sit on a bench. It is the same bench which Rohith was sitting and hearing Sneha and Shalinee’s conversation yesterday.)

Sneha: Don’t yell like that. 

Shalinee: Forget it. Just tell your story.

Sneha: He said a lot. He said he can’t live without me, he needs me. And do you believe he also said that he feels that I also can’t live without him.

Shalinee: What a romantic person?

Sneha: I told him to stop those nonsense and not to SMS me again.

Shalinee: That is good.

Sneha: Then he apologized me. He said that he will not do like that again.

Shalinee: Then you pardon him.

Sneha: Are you mad? Wait until I finish talking.

Shalinee: Ok, Ok go ahead.

Sneha: I didn’t say anything. Then he sends another message. I didn’t reply that also.

Shalinee: You have done well. Don’t keep connections with boys. They are nuts.

Sneha: Not everyone like that.

Shalinee: Every boy is same.

(Sneha doesn’t agree with her. But she doesn’t say anything.)

Shalinee: But how did he get your number?

Sneha: That is what I’m still thinking.

(They are thinking. They can hear two boys are talking behind the bench.)

1^st boy: Tell me your number.

2^nd boy: 0758648451

(They look at boys. They understand what has happen. They look each other’s face.)

Next scene, in classroom,

(Sneha is coming towards the classroom. Karan is coming out from the classroom. They hit each other.)

Karan: Oh you! Why do you always hit me?

(Karan asks while smiling. Sneha doesn’t tell anything. She leaves with a smile.)

Karan: I asked you something. Why do you always hit me?

(Sneha stops and turns.)

Sneha: Because you always block my way.

Karan: Oh! That’s cool. 

(All students are sitting in the class room. Karan, Rohith and Mahen are in the same place. Professor Khanna comes to the class.)

Prof. Khanna: Hello my dear students!

(Students stand up. But Mahen doesn’t notice that professor has come. He is writing something on the desk. Khanna notices it. He is looking at Mahen. Karan buffets Mahen. Then Mahen notices that Khanna is looking at him. He stands up slowly and smiles with Khanna with hesitation.)

Prof. Khanna: Good morning everybody, especially for you Mahen.

(Prof. Khanna starts the lesson.)

Next scene,

(Karan and Rohith are coming to the boarding house. Kajal and Arjun are playing badminton. They are Mrs. Varma’s children. )

Kajal: Karan brother, come play with us.

Karan: No Kajal, I can’t. I’m very tired.

Arjun: Please…!

Karan: Ok then, I will come in the evening.

Kajal: Ok.

(They come to their room. Karan keeps his books and his phone on the table. He is looking at the phone for a while. Then he jumps to the bed and lies. Rohith talks with Karan while changing clothes.)

Rohith: Did you understand Prof: Khanna’s lesson today?

Karan: A bit.

Rohith: I saw you were sleeping while the lesson.

Karan: Aaaaah… I slept a little. I feel so sleepy.

Rohith: You are always sleeping. Even in the boarding, even in the university.

(Karan doesn’t say anything. He smiles.)

Rohith: I’m going to have a wash.

(Rohith comes to the room after having a wash. Karan is sleeping.)

Rohith: Idiot. (Talks to him self.)

Next Scene,

(Karan is sleeping. He opens eyes. He looks around. No one is there. He can hear a noise out side. He looks out the window. Rohith and Arjun are playing badminton. Kajal is cheering. He walks to the table. He notices the phone. He takes it and thinks.)

Karan: (Talks to him self.) Let’s try again. May be she will reply this time. But… why I should do this. I don’t know her. What is the problem although she is angry with me?

(He is silent for a movement.)

Karan: No I should try again.

(He looks at the door to find out if anybody there. He types the message while reading. He types so fast.)

[Karan types, “Mujse thosthi karonge?”]

(He sends the message. Then he keeps the phone on the bed and stands. He turns to the door to go outside. Suddenly he freezes. Rohith is standing near the door. He is staring at Karan. Karan is embarrassed. He stammers.)

Karan: Did you finish playing?

(Rohith doesn’t say anything.)

Karan: Look I just said sorry again. That is all.

Rohith: What do you expect from her? Aaaaah…!

(Karan relaxes. He smiles.)

Karan: I just want to apologize.

Rohith: Are you mad? Are you expecting apology from a girl you have never seen? Is it possible? Do you think she will reply again?

(Karan’s face becomes darken. He feels that Rohith is correct. He hangs one's head.)

Rohith: I thought you are broad minded. But you also like other boys.

Karan: Ok, if she will not reply this time I will not do SMS her again.

Rohith: Promise?

Karan: Promise!

Rohith: Ok then, let’s go outside to play.

Karan: Ok.

(They go outside and play with Kajal and Arjun)

Next scene, Sneha’s room,

(Sneha comes to the room wearing a towel. She has had a bath. She looks at the phone. She notices that there is a message.)

Sneha: Oh! Have you nothing to do except messaging girls?

(She reads the message. She can’t imagine what she has to do. She thinks and then she puts the phone on the bed. She is looking at the phone for a while.)

Sneha: You are a big nuisance.     

(She takes the phone and types a message.)

Next scene, in Karan’s room,

(Rohith comes to the room after playing. He saw Karan’s phone. He takes it. There is a message from Sneha.)

Rohith: Oh my god!

(He reads the message. While he is reading Karan comes to the room. He doesn’t find out if there is a message or not. He sits near the cassette and plays a song. Rohith gives him the phone.)

Rohith: Your friend is here.

(Karan doesn’t hear what he said.)

Karan: What?

Rohith: Your friend is here.

Karan: Really?

(But he is not so interested about it now. He reads it. “How can I be your friend? I don’t even know who you are.” He smiles after reading the message.)

Rohith: Are you happy now?

Karan: (He talks in a heavy voice.) There is nothing special. Because, I’m a broad-minded boy.

(Both of them laugh.)

Rohith: I’m going to have a wash.

Karan: Again?

Rohith: Yes. Why? Don’t you have a wash after playing?

Karan: Oh my god! Why should people be this much clean?

Rohith: Wait a minute. It means won’t you have a wash?

Karan: No. I’ll have a bath another day. Not today.

Rohith: Oh my god! Is this a man? Please don’t come closer to me. (He tells while going.)

Karan: Why should I come closer to you?

(Karan reads the message again. Then he types, “I’m Karan. I’m studying for the degree in Mumbai University.” He sends the message.)

(Sneha is reading a book. She receives the message. She reads it. She thinks a little.)

[Sneha types, “No way! I’m also studying in Mumbai University.”]

[Karan types, “I know that.”]

[Sneha types, “How do you know that? And how did you get my number?”]

[Karan types, “My friend has heard you and your friend’s conversation in university yesterday. He told me the number. Yesterday I did SMS you with him. But now here is just only me. You still didn’t tell me your name.”]

(Sneha receives the message. She shakes her head.)

Sneha: Hmmm……..

[Sneha types, “My name is Sneha. But I don’t like that kind of jokes. If you want to be my friend, don’t do like that again.”]

(Rohith comes to the room. Karan receives the message. Rohith takes the phone and reads it. He smiles.)

Rohith: An idiot girl!

(He throws the phone to Karan.)

Karan: Oh! You are intelligent. All others are idiots.

(Rohith smiles. Karan reads the message and smiles. Rohith takes a book and reads. Karan types, “I told you that I’ll not do like that again. I promise you.” He sends the message. Rohith is looking at him while reading the book.)

(Sneha receives the message.)

Sneha: That is good boy.

[Sneha types, “Ok then, I’ll be your friend!”]

Part 02

Next scene,

(Prof. Khanna comes to the class room. He is very interesting character.)

Prof. Khanna: Good morning children! Welcome to Mumbai university. I’m professor Khanna. So this is a new beginning to all of you. You are going to start a new life. You are adults now. No one will treat you like school children here. Now you should be able to take responsibilities. You should be able to take the responsibility of your own. Because no one is here to look after you. Your parents can’t anymore protect you. You are on your own now. University life is very interesting. You can enjoy very much here. You have the total freedom. But… all the time you have to remember why are you here. You are here to have a degree. It is the priority. Don’t forget it. Don’t break your parents trust and don’t let them down. In this age you may arise with various necessities. I know all those because I have passed your age. Think in with both your brain and heart what is correct and what is wrong. Very easily you may lose the correct path in this age. So you should be very careful in selecting your path. That is why I’m telling all these. So, I hope you will keep all these in your mind as long as you here and after that also. Now let’s start recognizing each and every one. Start from there.

(He points the right corner of the first row. Students start to tell their names.)

Next scene,

(After telling the names Prof. Khanna gives a form to all the students.)

Prof. Khanna: All of you fill this form.

(Students start to fill the form. Karan is searching for the pen. He hasn’t brought it. He scolds him self. Mahen notices it. He smiles and gives Karan a pen. Karan also smiles and takes the pen. He gives the hand to Mahen.)          

Karan: Karan, Karan Khan.

Mahen: Mahen, Mahen Guptha.

Next scene, after university,

(Karan is going to find his boarding. He has a piece of paper which the address of the boarding is written. He comes in front of a house. He rings the bell. A middle aged woman comes out. She is Mrs. Varma.)

Karan: Mrs. Varma?

Mrs. Varma: Yes. You must be Karan.

Karan: Yes.

Mrs. Varma: Your parents came in the morning. Come I’ll show your room. You have another friend here. 

(Mrs. Varma takes him to a room.)

Mrs. Varma: This is your room. Go inside.

(Karan goes in. She leaves. There are a lot of cardboard boxes in the room. And there is another boy unpacking his bags. He is Rohith. He notices Karan.)

Rohith: Are you also new here in Mumbai University?

Karan: Yes. And you are doing QS, right?

Rohith: How do you know?

Karan: I’m also doing QS. I saw you today in the class.

Rohith: Really! Anyway, I’m Rohith.

(Rohith gives hand to Karan.)

Karan: Karan.

Next scene, after few days, in the university,

(Rohith is sitting on a bench. He is reading a book. Sneha and Shalinee are coming while talking. They stop behind the bench.)

Sneha: I’ll Hand-over this tomorrow, Thank you.

Shalinee: It’s ok.

(They walk opposite sides. Sneha stops suddenly and turns.)

Sneha: Oh Shalinee! I forgot to tell you. I have left my purse at your home yesterday.

Shalinee: I didn’t see it. Ok I’ll find it.

Sneha: No, I want my university I.D. number today to fill a form. My university ID is in my purse. Can you send the number to me when you go home?

Shalinee: Ok I’ll send. Tell me your number.

Sneha: 0759865871

Shalinee: Ok.

Sneha: Thank you, Bye!

Shalinee: Bye!

(Rohith is listening to the conversation. He notes the number in his book and smiles.)

Rohith: Mmm……. 0759865871.

(Rohith is coming to the boarding house. He is murmuring the number. He can see Karan is sleeping. He becomes angry.)

Rohith: Karan…! Karan…!!

(Karan Wakes up, looks at Rohith and Sleeps again.)

Rohith: What are you doing Ah? Why did you come early? And you are sleeping here. Do you think     it is ok to work like this?

(Karan doesn’t open eyes. He answers Rohith.)

Karan: Oh! Why are you shouting? I felt very lazy. That is why I came.

Rohith: Ok then. Always do like this. It will be ok.

(He is very angry. He changes clothes and he can hear Karan is roaring. He goes to the bathroom. Karan is still sleeping when he comes again. Suddenly he remembers something.)

Rohith: Hey Karan! Get up, get up. I found a girl’s number.

(Karan doesn’t respond. Rohith shakes Karan and talks again)

Rohith: Get up friend. Let’s do something fun.

(Karan Sits On the bed.)

Karan: Oh God! You are a big nuisance. Why? What is the problem?

Rohith: I got a number of a girl. Let’s call her and have fun.

(Karan is not so interested about it.)

Karan: From where did you get that?

Rohith: I listened two girls were talking. This number is one of them.

Karan: What is the name of her?

Rohith: I don’t know. Come on friend, it will be funny.

(Rohith takes his phone and dials the number. Karan is looking at him. But his credits are low. He scolds his phone. Then he turns at Karan and smiles.)

Karan: No, no I can’t. I don’t like these things.

Rohith: Please friend. Just only one time.

Karan: Then I will get in trouble. No, no.

Rohith: It will not happen. Believe me.

(Karan is looking at Rohith for a while.)

Karan: Ok then! But you take the responsibility ok!

Rohith: Ok my friend.

(Karan gives the phone to Rohith.)

Karan: But don’t call her. Do SMS her. Mother will call tonight. So I need some credits on the phone. There are not many credits on the phone.

(Rohith looks at Karan and try to say something. He wants to call. But he didn’t say anything.)

Rohith: Ok then, as you wish. What do we type? Let’s type I love you.

Karan: Idiot! It is so much ordinary. We should type something creative. Try this, “Why do I feel that you love me?”

Rohith: It is better.

(Rohith types like that and sends the massage.)

(Sneha is reading a book. She receives the massage. She reads it and gets angry.)   

[Sneha types, “Because you are an idiot. That is why you feel like that.”]

(Rohith and Karan receive the message. They read it and laugh. Then Karan takes the phone and types.)

[Karan types, “Don’t tell like that sweet heart. Why do you hurt me? Have you forgotten me?”]

(Sneha receives the message. She became very angry.)

Sneha: Who is this? How did he get my number?

[Sneha types, “Who are you? What is the wrong with you? How did you get my number?”]

(Karan types, “Answer 1: Your lover

                       Answer 2: I’m in love with you

                       Answer 3: An angel gave me”)

[Sneha types, “Ok then, why I should love you? Tell me.”]

(Karan and Rohith become confuse a little with that massage.)

[Karan types, “Because I can’t live without you. And I hope you also can’t”]

[Sneha types, “It’s too much now ok. Let’s end this. Don’t SMS me again, please. Good Bye   forever.”]

(Karan and Rohith receive the message. They see each others face.)

[Karan types, “Don’t get angry. We just made a joke. Take it easy.”]

Rohith: What are you going to do? Don’t type like that.

Karan: This is not good ok. She is an innocent girl.

Rohith: Oh! How do you know that?

Karan: I feel it.

Rohith: Oh really? Idiot.

(Karan sends that message. Sneha receives the message. She reads it and throws the phone away. She begins to read the book again. Rohith stands up. He is smiling.)

Rohith: She will not do SMS again. Come let’s go out.

(Rohith is happy about what they did. But Karan is not in happy. He is looking at the phone.)

Rohith: Hey! What is the matter? Come here.

Karan: I’ll try again.

Rohith: What? Are you mad? Hey, it was just a joke. It is over now. Come on.

Karan: It is not a good joke ok. It is not. It is wrong. I will send a message, just only one. You go. I’ll come.

Rohith: Oh god! What an idiot is this?

(Rohith leaves.)

[Karan types, “Please, don’t get angry. I’m really sorry. I know it was a bad joke. But take it easy. I’m sorry again.]

(Sneha receives the message. She doesn’t even read it. She continues reading.)

(Karan is so unhappy. Then he stands. He is looking at the phone for a while and then he leaves the room.)
